Robert Upham Original "Gun Powder Art" Eagle with Beads

Robert and two of his grandkids visited Virginia City, Montana two summers ago.  The town itself is not exactly a ghost town, more of a recreated town with authentic buildings from the original town, and some brought in from other towns nearby.  In 1961 the town and the surrounding area were designated a National Historic Landmark District, the Virginia City Historic District.   While hhere, they met a woman who was doing "Gun Powder Art".  The kids got to make their own pieces, and Robert made this Eagle with upraised wings.  He attached beads through the hole left by the gun powder explosion, to signify the Eagle's spirit.  He says the gun powder reminds him of the spirit of his ancestors, who fought so hard to keep their way of life and spirit intact.  Approximately 8.5 x 11.
